Preparation

  1. Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans). Place paper baking cup in each of 24 regular-size muffin cups. Make cake mix as directed on box for 24 cupcakes. Divide batter evenly among muffin cups (about two-thirds full).
  2. ake 14 to 19 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pans 10 minutes; remove from pans to cooling rack. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.
  3. In large bowl, place vanilla frosting; tint with orange food color to desired color. Fill a pastry bag with frosting. Place a decorative swirl on top of each cupcake.
  4. Melt dark chocolate and place in a small plastic bag, partially seal bag. Cut off tiny corner of bag. Squeeze bag to draw spider web shapes on wax paper (use photo as guide). Let cool until the chocolate solidifies and then place the cobwebs on the frosting.
  5. Store loosely covered at room temperature.
