Surprise-Inside Halloween Candy Cupcakes

There’s a super sweet surprise hiding inside these Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Devil’s Food Cake Mix cupcakes! These candy-stuffed cupcakes make for a fun treat to serve at your Halloween parties. And while they look impressive, they’re oh-so-easy to make with the help of a melon baller or other scoop!


Ingredient List

  • Small check mark in a circle icon 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Devil’s Food Cake Mix
  • Small check mark in a circle icon Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
  • Small check mark in a circle icon 1/2 cup candy-coated chocolate candies
  • Small check mark in a circle icon 2 tubs Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Vanilla Frosting
  • Small check mark in a circle icon Green food coloring

Preparation

  1. Heat oven to 375° (350°F for dark or nonstick pans). Place paper baking cup in each of 24 regular-size muffin cups. Make and bake cake mix as directed on box for 24 cupcakes. Cool in pans 10 minutes; remove from pans to cooling rack. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.
  2. Using melon baller, scoop out center of each cupcake, about 1 inch deep. Set center pieces aside.
  3. In small bowl, mix chocolate candies. Fill each cupcake with 1 heaping teaspoonful candy mixture. Replace center piece; gently press on top of each cupcake.
  4. In large bowl, place frosting; stir in food coloring until blended. Fill decorating bag fitted with medium star tip. Pipe decorative swirl on top of each cupcake. Sprinkle remaining candy sprinkles on top. Store loosely covered at room temperature.

Recipe Tips

  • If desired, these candy-filled cupcakes can be made with 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Yellow Cake Mix.
  • Use your favorite Halloween color, such as orange or purple, to tint the frosting for these cupcakes with candy filling.
  • Save time, and make and bake cupcakes the day before. Once baked, cool cupcakes completely, and store loosely covered at room temperature. Continue with recipe the next day.
